Isaiah's Daughter by Mesu Andrews

This Biblical fiction book by Mesu Andrews tells the story of Hezekiah's journey to becoming king through the eyes of his wife, Hephzibah. Hephzibah and Hezekiah's childhood friendship grew into love, but their relationship did not come without dangerous life-altering challenges. Hezekiah fights to be a good king and place God first where he belongs in his life and the lives of his subjects.

This book started off really good, but I started to lose interest about halfway through. It just seemed to be more about stating facts and details at times without actually diving into the story. While it is Biblically based, a lot of the supporting details are taken from the author's imagination so it is a bit confusing and hard to separate fact from fiction at times. Also, the characters were not very relatable to me and I just couldn't completely get lost in the story. Thanks so much to the author and publisher for the chance to read and review this book.

31 Proverbs to Light Your Path by Liz Curtis Higgs

This book is an inspirational read that focuses on 31 Scripture excerpts from the book of Proverbs. The author prepares a short devotional chapter for each verse and applies the wisdom found in the book of Proverbs to daily life. Each chapter also includes a section called "One Minute, One Step" which offers challenges and tips for improving your spiritual life. This book would be great to read straight through or to be used as a month's worth of devotional readings. Proverbs is such a well-loved book of the Bible and this is a great book to include with your daily Bible study. Thanks so much to the author and publisher for the chance to read and review this book!

The Price of Valor by Susan May Warren

The Global Search and Rescue series is definitely the book series you want to read this year! Susan May Warren wraps up the series in this third and final thrilling read. This installment focuses on our handsome hero, Hamilton Jones, and his long-lost wife, Signe. We have heard about Signe in previous books, but now we finally get to hear her side of the story.

This book was one of my favorites in the series. I love how the author weaves inspiring messages into her writing in such a natural way. After reading one of her books, you feel like the characters are a member of your family.

I didn't want this book to end. It left me breathless and with a racing heart, but also hopeful and full of inspiration.

I loved getting an update on the beloved characters from Susan's books and can't wait to read more about them! Thank you so much to Susan and Revell for the chance to read and review this book!

The Christmas Swap by Melody Carlson

Emma and West are from two completely different worlds. Emma lives in sunny Arizona and West lives in snowy Colorado. Their paths cross when they are both talked into a Christmas house swap by their family and friends. When West's travel plans get delayed, he doesn't end up joining his family for Christmas in Arizona as originally planned. Instead, he spends his time getting to know Emma and quickly falls for her.

This book has such an inviting cover and the plot is so much fun. It instantly reminded me of The Holiday which is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I thought the book started off great, but unfortunately it just never developed well for me. I didn't really connect with any of the characters and I thought the romance story was so rushed and there wasn't much time for character development. While the plot was refreshing and interesting, the book lacked substance to take it to "unputdownable" status. Thank you so much to the author and Revell for the chance to read and review this book! These opinions are all my own.
